ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
The Watford Jazz Junction is committed to reducing our environmental impact, both during our festival and year round in our other activities. We want to help Watford meet its targets for becoming a net zero town by 2030 as guided and laid out in the Council's Environmental Strategy.

What we do
-
We encourage our artists and visitors to walk or take public transport to the festival
-
The majority of our staff and all our volunteers are local to Watford
-
We use electronic tickets and artistic contracts
-
We use a digital programme in preference to a printed version
-
We produce site marketing materials that can be reused year-in, year-out
-
Where possible we use local suppliers for PA, food stalls and equipment hire and source regionally when not
-
We work with our venues and a local collection company, to recycle festival litter and waste
-
We monitor all festival artist travel and our audience travel where known
-
We engage with our Board and Residents groups to ensure environmental practices are discussed and considered as part of all our planning
What more we're doing
-
We seek to understand the environmental policies of the venues we hire and share in their commitments for energy saving (such as LED bulbs and smart heating solutions) and lobby for improvements where we see them/can contribute.
-
We will make our environmental data relating to the local night time economy available for inclusion in civic monitoring of environmental impacts.

Getting in touch

We are always open to suggestions from our audiences and artists for what more we can do to lessen our own carbon footprint and impact on the environment.
