ABOUT THE EVENT
This 2-part afternoon show features a very special solo set from Anthony Kerr: 'The Art of the Vibes' followed by a brand new selection of music from the Ilario Ferrari Trio.
The Art Of The Vibes
Throughout jazz history, the vibraphone has typically assumed the role of a ‘melody instrument’ such as a saxophone or a trumpet, playing in ensembles with a piano or another chordal instrument such as a guitar. This was the case for such influential masters as Lionel Hampton, Milt Jackson and Bobby Hutcherson.
Later on, in a style made famous by the four-mallets of Gary Burton, the instrument assumed a chordal role.
In this solo performance, Anthony combines these two sides of vibraphone playing while exploring the nuances of the vibraphone and its journey through jazz history.
The Ilario Ferrari Trio
Ilario, Katie and Charlie will present a brand new set featuring new arrangements from their latest release "Childhood Memories" and a few tracks from Ilario's upcoming album "Be Yourself".
Band line-up:
Ilario Ferrari (piano & vocals)
Charlie Pyne (double bass & vocals)
Katie Patterson (drums & percussion & vocals)
