About the artists
Shri - the power behind Badmarsh & Shri ("the baddest electronic/drum&bass/trip-hop duo the UK had ever produced") - is bringing hard beats to Watford.
The seminal albums Dancing Drums and Signs blended drum & bass, hip hop, Indian classical music and jazz leading to their breakout performance at Glastonbury in 2002. Gigs swiftly followed at the Montreux Festival, the London Jazz Festival and dozens more festivals in Europe and the US.
His production company Drum The Bass, co-founded with Shirin Sriram produces cross-cultural and cross-genre collaborative composition and performance projects. Shri recently worked with Bugge Wesseltoft on a new album The Letter, released in 2020 on Jazzland, showing yet another dimension to his hugely inclusive musical approach.
The band he's bringing to Watford is danced-based with an unmistakable jazz vibe.
Mete Çorumluoğlu, aka DJ Style-Ist, merges house through his eclectic style to combine jazz, funk, dub, abstract, hip hop, electro, breakbeat, and drum'n base.
Style-ist started his career in the late '90s with Açık Radyo. He worked in Pozitif / Babylon as musical director and a DJ for a long time, performing in New York and Amsterdam. Paving his way independently through various styles, Style-ist has a style that can be defined as eclectic or "freestyle".
You'll never want to get off the dancefloor.
